Directions to Asheville School of Massage & Yoga

PLEASE REFER TO THESE DIRECTIONS rather than Google or Map Quest directions, which can be confusing.  If you are unfamiliar with Asheville, it's a good idea to come early, giving yourself plenty of time to find the school and park before class starts.  Park in the public parking garages.  The first hour is free and $.75 each hour after that.  On Sundays and holidays it does not cost anything to park on the streets in Asheville.

(There is no parking allowed in the paved lot in front of the school.  The tow trucks come around every 1/2 hour.)

From Haywood Street:

  • Be aware that HAYWOOD STREET curves to the RIGHT in front of the CIVIC CENTER.  One block passed the Civic Center, turn LEFT onto WALNUT STREET.
  • Immediately on the LEFT you'll see a Zambra Restaurant.  Just pass that on the LEFT, you'll see a sign post listing businesses that are located in the CASTANEA COURTYARD, including the ASHEVILLE SCHOOL OF MASSAGE & YOGA.  (The Castanea Courtyard is a little courtyard/WALKWAY next to Zambra and through a set of Arches.)  
  • You can only reach the school by walking through the arches down the courtyard.  Look for a set of DOUBLE GREEN DOORS.
  • The easiest parking headed from this direction is in one of the two nearby PARKING GARAGES.  The RANKIN STREET Parking Garage is just past the Castanea Courtyard on the RIGHT.  And you can find the CIVIC CENTER Parking Garage if you pass the Castanea Courtyard and then turn LEFT onto RANKIN STREET.  
  • From the Parking Garages, walk back up the hill on WALNUT STREET and turn into the CASTANEA COURTYARD.

FROM THE WEST (Waynesville, clyde, canton):

  •  I-40 E to 240 E.  Take EXIT 4C (MONTFORD AVENUE) off of 240.  
  • Turn LEFT at the stop light at the end of the Exit Ramp onto HAYWOOD STREET. 
  • Then follow the directions ABOVE for "FROM HAYWOOD STREET".

FROM THE EAST (GREENBORO, NC;  WINSTON-SALEM; HICKORY; BLACK MOUNTAIN)

  • I-40 W to 240 W. Take EXIT 4C (MONTFORD AVENUE) off of 240.
  • At the STOPLIGHT at the end of the Exit Ramp, Turn LEFT onto MONTFORD AVENUE. 
  • Turn LEFT at the NEXT STOPLIGHT onto HAYWOOD STREET.
  • Then follow the directions at the top of the page for  "FROM HAYWOOD STREET".

FROM THE NORTH (JOHNSON CITY, TN; MARSHALL, wEAVERVILLE, MARS HILL):

  • 19/23 /I 26 S TO 240 E.  Once you're on 240, Move quickly to the RIGHT LANE so you can get off on the first Exit, EXIT 4C (MONTFORD AVENUE) off of 240.
  • At the STOPLIGHT at the end of the Exit Ramp, Turn LEFT onto HAYWOOD STREET. 
  • Then follow the directions above for "FROM HAYWOOD STREET". 

FROM THE SOUTH (CHARLOTTE, HENDERSONVILLE, FLETCHER):

  • I 26 TOWARD ASHEVILLE, to 240 E.  Take EXIT 4C (MONTFORD AVENUE) off of 240.
  • At the STOPLIGHT at the end of the Exit Ramp, Turn LEFT onto HAYWOOD STREET.
  • The follow the directions above for "FROM HAYWOOD STREET".
